Very well done to you all.
The Oldest horse on record was "Old Billy" who died at 62. He was a cross breed who towed barges on the canal near Warrington and lived from 1760 - 1822.
The fastest time recorded for the Grand National was set by Red Rum in 1973, who covered 4.5 miles in 9 minutes 1.9 seconds so he reached 29 miles per hour.
In the 19th century there were about 300.000 horses working in London. That meant they produced around 400 - 500 tonnes of manure daily.
The smallest equine ever recored was an Argentinian Fallabella who stood at 14-15 inches (35.5 - 38 cms) tall. That's about the size of a 2 litre bottle of water.
If you find a horse shoe it will bring Good Luck, especially if it is cast from the near hind leg of a Grey Mare!!
